Dr. Michael Krychman

Michael L. Krychman, MDCM, is the medical director of sexual medicine at Hoag Hospital and the executive director of the Southern California Center for Sexual Health and Survivorship Medicine in Newport Beach, California. He is also an associate clinical professor at the University of Southern California. Dr. Krychman has a vast background and expertise in female sexual health and is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, holding licenses from three states including California, Pennsylvania, and New York. He is also a clinical sexologist, an AASECT-certified sexual counselor, and has completed his masters in Public Health and Human Sexuality.

Prior to his positions at Hoag Hospital, Dr. Krychman served as co-director of Sexual Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and was an associate professor at Cornell Medical School in New York City. Previously, he was the medical director of Labor and Delivery on hospital staff at Temple University Hospital and Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Krychman’s clinical interests are diverse, ranging from chemotherapy-induced dyspareunia to management of sexual dysfunction in cancer and non-cancer patients. His special interests include sexual pain disorders, loss of libido, chronic medical illness and its impact on female sexual function, as well as breast cancer sexuality.

Beyond his role as an expert physician, Dr. Krychman is a renowned researcher, author, and lecturer in the field of sexual medicine. He has published countless articles in peer-reviewed journals, served as a reviewer and editorial advisor for numerous publications, and authored several textbook chapters and books, including 100 Questions & Answers for Women Living with Cancer: A Practical Guide to Female Cancer Survivorship, 100 Questions and Answers on Cervical Cancer, 100 Questions and Answers for the Women Seeking Sexual Wellness and Vitality (available April 2009), Cardiovascular Disease and Women (being published in 2009), and Breast Cancer Intimacy and Sexual Wellness (being published in 2010). Dr. Krychman has been featured in the New York Times, U.S. News and World Report, The Wall Street Journal, Health magazine and many others. He is also the scientific chair for the ISSWSH annual conference for 2010 in St. Petersburg, FL.

Dr. Krychman obtained his doctorate in medicine and masters in surgery from McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal, where he was named a "Great Distinction Medical Scholar."
